The Hesitant Domestic is my answer to all the cute homemaking and lifestyle blogs I've seen popping up everywhere (largely thanks to Pinterest). Whenever I see the clever DIY projects, inventive recipes and tutorials on the many uses of vinegar these women are producing, I think, "Man, I really need to step up my game." I suppose I wasn't born with the "girliness" gene. I have never considered myself crafty or artistic (even my handwriting looks like it belongs to a man). My interior decorating schemes are only partially executed, and housework is always last on my to do list. I like to cook, but I often go for the quick and easy instead of the impressive and time-consuming. Recently I have decided to start flexing my girly muscles and make my home more of a priority. In this blog, I'll share my struggles and successes, as well as some general thoughts and tidbits from my ever-more-domestic life.
Now for the "About Me." Two years ago I married my best friend and the love of my life, Ryan. We live in College Station, TX with our two crazy and always entertaining Boston Terriers, Olive and Midge. Ryan is working on a master's in land development from Texas A&M University. I'm 27, and I work full time as a Communications Specialist for a locally-based state agency. I'm not one of those girls who can eat anything and never gain a pound, and the Weight Watchers plan has been helping me balance the scale and my love of things delicious for several years. You'll notice many of the foods or recipes I post will be slimmed down or health-conscious in nature.
I'm not convinced this site will ever resemble one of the aforementioned "cute" blogs, but I hope you enjoy my attempts at domestic bliss anyway.
